The challenge of aluminium bending
Aluminium bending is more difficult compared to other materials such as steel or stainless steel. This is because aluminium undergoes natural ageing. As a result, the material hardens over time and becomes difficult to bend.
Bending aluminium without breaking it therefore works best with fresh material. When profiles, such as a tube, have been stored in a warehouse for a longer period, the material is no longer pliable and will break or crack.
It is also important that the bending tool and the material being shaped are aligned. Bending an aluminium tube with stainless steel tooling is not advisable. The material is simply too soft for that. For this reason, we bend the material using a mandrel bending machine in a very tight radius, which keeps the risk of cracking extremely low and supports precise aluminium bending.
